On the November 5, 2024, General Election Ballot there will be a referendum stating:

“Shall the person holding the office of town treasurer in the Town of Calumet be appointed by the 
town board”

Our town’s Treasurer plays a crucial role, requiring specialized skills and experience in 
bookkeeping and finance. Our current Treasurer, Allen Feldner, is retiring in April 2025 after 14 
years of exemplary service. It is vital that we ensure the Treasurer position continues to be 
filled by the most qualified individual.

By transitioning the Treasurer role from elected to appointed, we can broaden the pool of potential 
candidates to include professionals with the expertise and certifications needed to manage our 
town’s finances effectively.

This change will help us attract top talent from both within and beyond our town borders, ensuring 
that our financial stewardship remains in the best hands.
