As set by the Town Electors at the 2021 Annual Meeting, the 2022 Annual Meeting is set for Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 7:00 pm at W2104 County Trunk HH, Malone, WI 53049
Q. Who may vote at an annual meeting? A. Any “qualified” elector of the town may vote. Wis. Stat. 60.14(1). This means that the person must be at least 18 years old, a town resident, and otherwise eligible to vote in regular elections pursuant to Chapter 6 of the Wisconsin Statutes. NOTE: 1. An elector does not have to be a registered voter in order to be eligible to vote at the annual meeting. 2. While an elector must be a town resident, he or she is not required to own property in the town. In other words, renters may vote. 3. Non-residents that own property in the town are not permitted to vote. However, the chair may allow non-residents to speak during the meeting. 4. Proxy voting and absentee voting are not allowed at town elector meetings.
No agenda is required for the annual town meeting. However, the annual meeting may act with authority only on those things authorized by statute. [Most of those items are listed in Wis. Stat. § 60.10]. The chair may allow anything to be discussed at the meeting and the electors may give advice to the town board. However, if the electors do not have statutory authority to act on an item, any resulting vote or advice is advisory to the town board and not binding.
